| Citizens’ Report on the MDGs, Sep 2005 |
|
|
| The Citizens’ Report on the MDGs is essentially an attempt to evaluate the government’s performance on the Millennium Development Goals, which emerge from the United Nations Millennium Declaration which was adopted by 189 governments in the year 2000. There are five special sections that concentrate on Health, Education, Poverty Alleviation and Environmental Sustainability, and the Availability of Drinking Water. Focus Group Discussions were held in 1541 villages spread across 13 states in India in an effort to gauge how much people are part of the developmental process, and the gains achieved towards the promises made in the Millennium Declaration. The report was formally released as part of the People’s Summit against Poverty in September 2005. |
