Collaborations With Civil Society in India

Our work with national stakeholders spans citizen-led assessments, policy engagement, and civil society coordination. Our flagship Promises and Reality report provides a citizens' review of government performance, while nationwide consultations ahead of each general election inform a People's Manifesto for political parties and policymakers. We also contribute civil society perspectives to India's Voluntary National Review through collaborative consultations with NITI Aayog and the UN. Through the India Social Forum and other national networks, we work across health, social protection, childcare, and SDG implementation.

Promises & Reality

Our flagship annual citizen review report is developed through a collaborative process involving civil society organisations, academic experts, networks, and rights-based campaigns who contribute independent analysis across sectors.

Each chapter is written by subject specialists who assess the government’s performance against electoral promises, constitutional mandates, and documented ground realities. The process draws on official data, policy documents, and legislative developments, and is strengthened by field insights and evidence from grassroots organisations working with marginalised communities.

People's Manifesto

The Manifesto is developed through nationwide consultations that gather citizen perspectives on governance, rights, and development priorities. Civil society organisations, campaigns, academics, and experts contribute data, field insights, and policy assessments, which are consolidated into clear demands for political parties and policymakers. The resulting manifesto reflects citizen priorities across education, health, social security, employment, justice, climate action, and inclusion, ensuring that public concerns are directly articulated to those seeking office.
